In just two years, Governor Uba Sani has turned Kaduna State into a hub of transformation, driving infrastructure, social inclusion, and economic reforms with precision. Here are 11 bold actions that have supercharged Kaduna’s development:
1. N100 BILLION WATER SECTOR REVIVAL
The administration allocated N100bn over four years to ensure 100% water access by 2025. It cleared a N1.3bn electricity debt, restored power to water plants, paid N800m in staff salaries, and rolled out the World Bank-supported SURWASH in six LGAs.
2. 78 NEW ROADS, 21 COMPLETED PROJECTS
Kaduna witnessed the launch of 78 road projects across all 23 LGAs, covering 775km. Already, 21 roads are completed. The revival of the Kaduna Bridge and the 14.8km dual road in Millennium City stand out.
3. TRANSPARENT GOVERNANCE AND CONTRACT REFORMS
Governor Sani cleaned up the state’s procurement systems, canceled inflated contracts, and introduced transparent processes, making Kaduna a national benchmark for public sector accountability.
4. MASSIVE EDUCATION BOOST
62 new secondary schools, 2,326 classrooms, and 30,742 desks have been provided. Tuition across tertiary institutions was slashed by 50%, while education received N206.6bn in the 2025 budget—over 26% of the total.
5. HEALTH SECTOR UPGRADES
Twelve General Hospitals are under reconstruction. 255 PHCs received equipment and upgrades, and health insurance enrolment rose by over 21%, thanks to aggressive reforms.
6. AGRICULTURAL EMPOWERMENT & INDUSTRIAL LEAP
Over 240,000 bags of fertilizer were distributed, 12 tractors deployed, and the LPRES project launched. The commissioning of a lithium processing plant in Kangimi is boosting Kaduna’s industrial profile.
7. WORKERS FIRST: PENSION & LOANS RELIEF
N19.9bn has been spent on pensions and gratuities since May 2023. Civil servants now access a N500m revolving loan at just 5% interest—a rare feat in Nigerian public service.
8. OVER $650 MILLION IN FDI ATTRACTED
Strategic MoUs with Huawei (Smart City) and Qatar Charity (Housing) have unlocked major investments. Diplomatic overtures to the USA, Italy, and Cuba signal expanding global confidence in Kaduna.
9. TARGETED POVERTY ALLEVIATION
Through the A Kori Talauci scheme, 4,912 poor women received cash grants. Skills Acquisition Cities and Panteka Innovation Centre are being developed to tackle unemployment.
10. FINANCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE UNBANKED
Over 2 million rural residents now own bank accounts after the signing of an Executive Order on financial inclusion. The target: 3 million by 2025.
11. FISCAL DISCIPLINE AND IGR REFORMS
IGR hit N71.57bn in 2024, with Q1 2025 already yielding N19.27bn. A strategic audit of MDAs and digital reforms have curbed waste and maximized efficiency.
