Senator Uba Sani, CON, the Governor of Kaduna State, was born on 31st December, 1970 in Zaria, Zaria Local Government, Kaduna State. He is a renowned civil rights activist, frontline politician, development worker, social entrepreneur, philanthropist and accomplished businessman. In the 9th Senate, he represented Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone and headed the strategic Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions. He was formerly a Special Adviser (Political and Intergovernmental Affairs) to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State. He also served as a Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, and Special Adviser (Political) to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He holds the Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Calabar, a Post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration from University of Abuja, and a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Kaduna Polytechnic. He founded the Uba Sani Foundation devoted to entrepreneurship and skills acquisition for youths, women and the underprivileged. An entrepreneur of repute, he established and successfully built businesses in telecommunications and estate management. He has skills in strategic management, public policy research and analysis, image management, network and coalition building, and legislative and human rights advocacy.
In the 9th Senate, he sponsored 32 bills. Seven of the bills were passed by the Senate and House of Representatives, while three of them were assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari (of blessed memory). The bills assented to are: (1) The Banks and Other Financial Institutions (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Act 2022 (2) Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria Act (Amendment No.3) Act 2021, and (3) Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Act 2023. The versatile parliamentarian and political strategist was honoured with the “Most Valuable Parliamentarian (MVP) of The 9th Senate” and “Overall Best Parliamentarian of the 9th National Assembly” by Nigeria’s leading Legislative Monitoring and Advocacy Group, ORDERPAPER NIGERIA. He was also among a select group of distinguished parliamentarians that were inducted into the organization’s HALL OF FAME.
Since assumption of office as Governor of Kaduna State in May 2023, his administration has made significant strides in SDG4 (Ensure Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education and Promote Lifelong Learning Opportunities for All ) and SDG3 (Ensure Healthy Lives and Promote Well-being for All at All Ages ). He has revitalized the education and health sectors through massive infrastructure development and training of personnel. On security matters he has demonstrated courage and exemplary leadership. He has rebuilt trust and worked with key stakeholders to stabilize the security situation in Kaduna State. He has transformed the agricultural sector and repositioned Kaduna State as a hub for agro-industrial investment.
Governor Uba Sani is the Vice Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and the Coordinating Governor of the APC, North West Zone. He holds the traditional titles of Asor – tar U Tiv Kaduna (The Man Who Came to Repair the Town), Ezi – Enyi Ndigbo (True Friend of the Igbos) and Chat Atyap (Lover of the Atyap People). He is married with children.
