Gov. Uba Sani, SMEDAN Partner to Empower 180,000+ MSMEs

Governor Uba Sani has chaired the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Kaduna State Government and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
Governor Uba Sani said the agreement formalizes a strategic partnership aimed at boosting the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the state, while addressing poverty, unemployment, insecurity amongst others.
During the event, SMEDAN’s Director General, Mr. Charles Odii, commended Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to peace, infrastructure, and human capital development. He also highlighted Kaduna’s leadership in supporting SMEs, recognizing it as the best-performing state in this area and the first to adopt such a forward-looking initiative.
The partnership is anchored on a ₦1 billion Matching Fund Program, with both parties contributing ₦500 million each. Since the start of Governor Sani’s administration, the number of MSMEs in Kaduna has grown from under 20,000 to over 180,000, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to financial inclusion, job creation, and economic empowerment.
