Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has approved the release of the sum of N3.1 billion for the payment of gratuity for retirees and death benefits for families of deceased staff under the Defined Benefit Scheme and the Contributory Pension Scheme.
The Governor’s action aligns with his commitment to easing the hardship faced by the elderly, who are among the state’s most vulnerable groups, a statement from the Kaduna Government House said.
He emphasized that the Government was committed to ensuring that, upon retirement, workers who had served Kaduna State diligently have full access to what is rightfully theirs. The Governor stated that the State Government, in conjunction with the State Pension Bureau, was resolute in ensuring continuity in the release of payments for gratuity and death benefits to beneficiaries in the state.
The Government House statement, quoting the Governor, said that timely releases of these funds would aid in ameliorating the ripple effects of the current economic realities, especially for the elderly who have retired from active service.
It also mentioned that a full list and details of beneficiaries would be released by the State Pension Bureau soon for necessary action.
