The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, has received 33 female students who secured full scholarships to study ICT courses at Mewar International University, Nasarawa State. The students were accompanied by the Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, Hassan Rilwan, alongside their parents.
The Deputy Governor expressed delight in receiving the beneficiaries of the scholarship and advised them to believe in themselves and support each other to overcome any challenges they may face.
The Executive Secretary of the Scholarship and Loans Board explained that the scholarship was created to help bridge the huge shortage of girls in ICT in Northern Nigeria, in line with Kaduna State’s determination to become a knowledge-based economy and an ICT hub of Northern Nigeria. He informed that the award is for two brilliant and indigent students from each Local Government Area of the State, stressing that the prioritization of Girl Child Education is in line with the SUSTAIN agenda of Senator Uba Sani’s administration.
Besides the 33 girls, another set of 17 boys will also benefit from the scholarship award.
