Governor Uba Sani was born on December 31, 1970, in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. He began his education at the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School in Zaria and later attended Government Secondary School, Zaria, for his secondary education. He pursued higher education at the University of Abuja, where he earned a degree in Business Administration and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Calabar. His academic background laid a strong foundation for his expertise in financial management, public administration, and leadership.
Professional Career
Before venturing into politics, Uba Sani had a distinguished career in engineering and human rights advocacy. He served as a Special Adviser on Public Affairs to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, where he played a pivotal role in policy formulation and public communication. He also held advisory roles at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) under Nasir El-Rufai, contributing to political strategy and intergovernmental relations. Political Career
Governor Uba Sani’s political journey began in 1999 when he supported Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s presidential campaign. He was elected to the Nigerian Senate in 2019, representing the Kaduna Central Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC). During his tenure in the 9th National Assembly, he sponsored over 32 bills, three of which received presidential assent, earning him recognition as one of the most active and effective legislators. His legislative interests included security, social justice, economic development, and financial sector reforms, particularly as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions.
In 2023, Uba Sani was elected as the Governor of Kaduna State, succeeding Nasir El-Rufai.
